My Top (Non-Trendy) Yoga Tips || Mayim Bialik

Hey, it’s Mayim, and I actually love doing yoga. I think it’s a great way to move your body and relax your mind. I don’t like the trends that come along with yoga and don’t really find them necessary to the practice. Here are some of my non-trendy yoga tips!
More about yoga:

You may know me as Amy Farrah Fowler from The Big Bang Theory, or from Blossom, but hopefully, these videos allow you to get to know me better as Mayim, too! Subscribe to my channel for video updates. I upload new videos every Thursday!

  • I'm also a sweater, larger-ish…person, socially awkward, uncomfortable with my bod type that hurts herself when I do yoga. So…
I do so appreciate you framing yoga as a way to work through the hard stuff while practicing calm and gaining strength. 🔥

  • I love yoga too. And I have had the same anxiety in yoga. I am not thin. I am over 200lbs. I used to do yoga a lot. But now it’s hard to even get on the floor, or should I say even harder to get back up. I don’t want to be embarrassed. I keep saying I’ll do yoga at home and even made myself a workout room….that I have yet to use. 🥴 But I do agree with you. I like vinyasa yoga best. I have tried other yoga types and that’s my favorite. I love how I don’t think about life in general while I’m doing yoga. And I leave the mat with a sense of relief and clarity and calmness.

  • I don't know why but this reminded me of "Fun with flags" hahaha ❤️

  • You are amazing ❤️ thank you for sharing 💕 love you!

  • As a 71 year old man I find senior yoga very good way of retaining muscle tone and flexibility. Thanks for your videos

  • I have never tried yoga. With some of my past injuries and surgeries I don't think I could do it. By the way you are a beautiful woman. I just adore you.

  • Love this! Please check out The Yoga Ranger Studio with Aprille Walker on YouTube. She is a phenomenal Yin yoga instructor. She is down to earth and very knowledgeable. Peace and Namaste 🧘🏾‍♀️🙏🏽

  • I am a yogateacher myself and I love these tips you are awesome and getting it!

  • I don't understand the point of Fascia and what they are doing at all. it ist just very strong and tense connective issues on the outer side of muscels – ist does not have tension in itself, it is not a muscel and has not any kind of rememberence. did I get it wrong? it's to protect the muscel and sourrounds it and that's it. ^_^°
I do yoga the same way as you do – it's soooo wunderfull <3

  • I am a traditional hatha and yin yoga teacher.
you said well. all the way. I feel and think exactly like you.
we need more yoga sessions and meditation especially these days <3
What do you think about meditation/ mindfulness? Maybe you will make a video about this <3 NamasTe

  • Shut up….you have a great body…..that Ive marveled at personally……..LA women in downtown have no ass…..

  • Haha!😂Nude Yoga! Nooooo!

  • I love. This. Video.

Quick background before I go on: I teach yoga, write about it, blog about it. I teach math and science, with a background in physiological psychology. I’m a singer/performer. So this video reaches down inside me and makes me go “hurray!” Here are the parts that really hit me:

“Discomfort is not dangerous.” That’s so awesome that you said that. It's something I spend a lot of time coaching my students through. Pain = no. But discomfort means you’re learning and growing. Just breathe in and out. Let your body take care of the rest.

Emotions come up when you’re doing yoga. So glad you said that. I’m even more glad that bubbling emotions didn’t drive you away form yoga. A lot of students wander off into the wilderness when feelings keep coming up. If we can just breathe in and out, just notice the thoughts and feelings, and then go back to breathing in and out, these moments go better, and you can learn and grow.

Take what you like and walk away from the rest. Great advice. Yes.

Yoga is your time for you.

For the busy, I encourage “Yoga Snacks” doing what you can when you have a minute.

Thank you for this lovely moment of down to earth encouragement.

    Namaste,

    Corinne

Great video! I also love yoga. I go through spurts where I'm in yoga classes a lot and I remember how much better my life is with frequent stretching and exercise! Then I fall out of the habit and have to get back on the horse. I recently got a new gym membership and I've been going more than I expected I would, but I've been doing solo workouts! I just need to plan my schedule around when they have group fitness classes 😊

  • You are really so much yourself… The things u said about yoga…I can relate.. yoga makes us feel…if there is pain..it's ok…to bear it.

  • Eres una gran y hermosa mujer.

  • The "most beautiful women in LA" arent doing yoga as a social event…….their getting away (just like u)……therefore…..u shouldn't be intimidated by them and do yoga in downtown LA.

  • Wow, even after being non-Indian you have the right ideas about Yoga. Power Yoga, hot yoga isn't real yoga. That's an exercise , not Yoga

  • I've tried other classes and and one of those women who has significant body issues, and constantly compare myself. I am also socially awkward, an introvert. I'm 5 foot 1 and round. Yoga hurts. I read through a lot of the comments and I seem to be the only one who doesn't care for it.

  • What a fantastic video, you hit so many nails on the head. As a yoga teacher I have seen the women clad in the latest fashion who are so busy looking around the class to see who's looking at them that they completely miss the message of yoga. I do private one to one classes where people wear their PJ's because it's comfy, they connect to breath, emotions and sometimes horror moments pop up for them but the reward is to see and help them pass through it all and embrace, live and love the benefits yoga brings. I completely agree that the people who take the piss out of those who practice yoga, who are too busy thinking that they know everything or what they are going to say next as their voice is the most important are the ones that need it the most.
Thank you Mayim for such an honest video. Namaste. 🙏

  • Great job you orthodox jew. Yoga is prohibited as idolatry. You are bowing to other gods. You would be punishable by death

  • "P.s I sweat like a pig 🐖" that's my life haha and I have a hard time sticking to yoga because I gained so much weight. When I was younger I did yoga and running, I was very fit. I guess I just can't handle college and being a stay at home mom because I'm emotional eating so bad and I get burnt out so quick I never get a quite moment to just chill.

  • I love doing yoga so much because it makes my body and my mind feel relaxed and meditates

  • Yoga means Union (of Mind & Body).

  • I’m fat. I’m oddly proportioned. I have short legs and a long body. I’m also forty and spent the past forty years not doing much in the way of activity.

I always thought my body was all wrong for yoga, what with the mismatched limbs and torso, but a year ago I discovered yoga at home via apps and YouTube channels and I’m in love. I’m a work in progress (I don’t practice as often as I should and I don’t have much of a strategy) but after years of thinking it wasn’t for me, YOGA IS ABSOLUTELY FOR ME! 💕

  • Hi! I would like to recommend the website “Do yoga with me”. The classes are amazing, with all kinds of yoga practice! I use it since 2014 every day! Its the best!
